The Society for New Music will host the 26th annual Cazenovia Counterpoint Festival from July 4 to July 21, 2024, in Cazenovia, NY. This vibrant festival offers a mix of free and ticketed events, celebrating new music and the arts. Kicking off with open gallery hours from one to five on the fourth of July , the festival features an ongoing Art Gallery at St. Peter's Episcopal Church (12 Mill St, Cazenovia, NY 13035), complete with artist receptions on three different dates. There will also be artwork from select artists at the Cazenovia Library Gallery hall. These pieces will be able to be seen during normal operating hours of the Library. The "Rising Stars" concerts on July 11 and 18 highlight talented high school musicians performing new works. A special performance of Terry Riley's minimalist classic "In C" will take place at Lakeland Park Pavilion (11 Forman Street, Cazenovia, NY 13035) on July 16, inviting audience participation. The festival's musical cornerstones include concerts by the Society Players and guest artists on July 13 and 20, showcasing contemporary compositions and collaborative performances.
